Decoy: The Fragility of Power, Technology, and Perception
In Decoy, I examine the delicate balance between power, technology, and the illusionary nature of both. The title “Decoy” immediately suggests something that deceives, challenging me to look beyond the surface and question the systems that define our perception of reality.
The canvas is primarily filled with deep blue tones, which evoke a sense of introspection. These colors reflect the emotional weight of modern technology, capturing the isolation and overwhelm we often feel in a fast-paced digital world. The blue seems to represent the quiet struggle beneath the surface of contemporary life.
In striking contrast, a bold gold hue stands out. Gold has long symbolized both divine power and material strength, but here it also references technology, where its conductive properties are essential. The gold’s vibrancy against the dark tones emphasizes the tension between our desires for progress and the illusions technology can create, highlighting both its allure and potential deception.
